Jeff Lakey founded NOLA Paddleboards in 2011. He grew up in Metairie, Louisiana, and graduated from the University of New Orleans in 2005 in Business Administration. Jeff moved out to San Diego in 2006 and became a beach lifeguard, where he discovered the sport of paddleboarding going strong all along the Southern California coast. After three years, he missed his Gulf Coast home and moved to Destin, Florida, for a year-round Emergency Medical Technician beach-safety position. He spent two great years there working on the beach and paddleboarding endless miles on the Emerald Coast. As nice at it was there, he realized there is no place like New Orleans. So, he moved back home in 2010 to combine his passion for the sport with his love for this great city by creating NOLA Paddleboards! He still practices as an E.M.T. volunteering as a V.I.G.O.R. with New Orleans Emergency Medical Services. Jeff regularly competes in S.U.P. races and became the first person to stand-up-paddle across Lake Pontchartrain on July 4th, 2012, in support of Team Gleason.
